Particulars
In the first ten months of this year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 517,000 and 490,000 respectively. The production and sales figures for the first ten months have approached those of last year. Meanwhile, the lithium battery new energy industry has undergone a series of changes in terms of policy, resources, products, and technology. Industry insiders predict that under the dual forces of favorable policies and market-driven forces, the new energy industry will usher in a new era of China's consumer market.
Recently, Yu Qingjiao, the secretary-general of the organizing committee of the Lithium Battery "Davos" and the secretary-general of the Zhongguancun New Battery Technology Innovation Alliance, said at the 5th China (Guangdong · Shantou) Lithium Battery New Energy Industry International Summit Forum that after the adjustment in 2017, the new energy policy will be more stable and practical. Meanwhile, the role of market mechanisms in the development of industries such as new energy vehicles and energy storage will also become increasingly evident.
Meanwhile, with the implementation of the dual-credit policy, the ban on the sale of fuel vehicles being put on the agenda, the continuous improvement of infrastructure such as charging piles and power resource allocation, the increase in energy density and the reduction in cost of power batteries, the energy storage industry has entered a growth period... The market competitiveness of the battery industry chain is expected to be significantly enhanced. Yu Qingjiao predicts that in the field of power batteries in 2018, the competition among leading enterprises will become even more intense.
In the sub-sectors, the upward trend in the prices of raw materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, aluminum foil and copper foil will intensify the competition for resources. Cathode materials are evolving towards high-nickel and diversified development, but they will also face greater cost pressure. The long-term oligopolistic competition in the anode material market may continue, and the price war competition situation is likely to persist. The changes in battery material technology solutions will also continue to lead to a slowdown in the growth rate of electrolyte sales. The separator industry still faces a serious situation of overcapacity in low-end products. The price of dry-process separators has dropped significantly, while the release of wet-process separator capacity remains relatively slow. The reshuffling speed in the BMS industry will also further accelerate, and the survival space of third-party BMS and battery PACK enterprises will constantly be challenged. Equipment enterprises also urgently need to get out of the predicament of small market scale, unstable equipment performance and long collection cycle.
In the downstream new energy vehicle and energy storage markets, with the major reversal of joint venture policies, domestic brands will face a test of life and death. Against this backdrop, "quality manufacturing and redefining the landscape" will remain the main theme of the development of the lithium battery new energy industry for a long time to come.
During the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Minister Miao Wei of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology once said that since the implementation of the "Made in China 2025" strategy nearly two years ago, it has played an important role in stabilizing industrial growth and accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry.
As a high-end sub-manufacturing industry with long-term rapid growth in industrial added value, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology attaches great importance to the intelligent manufacturing of batteries. On October 16, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of pilot and demonstration projects for intelligent manufacturing in 2017. The pilot demonstration projects focus on five intelligent manufacturing models and encourage the innovative application of new technologies.
Among them, the element conditions of the intelligent manufacturing model include discrete intelligent manufacturing, process intelligent manufacturing, network collaborative manufacturing, large-scale personalized customization, and remote operation and maintenance services. The main elements and conditions for the innovative application of new technologies are industrial Internet and artificial intelligence.
With the increasing demand for high-performance, high-quality and cost-effective power batteries in the consumer market, enhancing the intelligent manufacturing level of power batteries has become a key task for the development of power batteries in China. Driven by policies and the market, leading power battery enterprises have set off a trend of intelligent manufacturing.
Meanwhile, competition in the industry will also become even more intense. Mo Ke, secretary-general of the Academic Committee of the Lithium Battery "Davos", said that in the first 10 months of this year, the cumulative installed capacity of lithium batteries reached 18.1GWh, an increase of 31.43% year-on-year. A total of 76 battery manufacturers have formed effective installed supply, three more than in the first 9 months. It is expected that the number for the whole year will be around 80. Last year, there were 109 battery factories, which means that around 30 battery factories may go bankrupt this year. The industry reshuffle has fully begun.
